• About: The Kaikōura electorate is one of 16 South Island electorates. In Māori Kaikōura means “to eat crayfish”. By area it is the fourth-largest general electorate in New Zealand. It extends from Cook Strait at the top of the South Island to the Ashley River in the south incorporating Marlborough and North Canterbury.
